Cape Cod Chapter Board Members

Elaine Grace CAP, President is employed as Administrative Assistant/Facility Coordinator in the Maintenance Department for the Barnstable Public Schools. She has been a member of IAAP since April 2004. She served as Treasurer 2004-2005 and 2005-2006. She attained CAP rating in November 2005.

Vice President-Vacant

Edie Merrigan CAP, Secretary is currently employed at the VNA of Cape Cod, Inc. She has been with the agency since 1990. During her tenure she has had a wide variety of administrative responsibilities which has broadened her experience and keeps her current with numerous technical changes. Duties included but not limited to; attending and recording of meeting minutes, preparation for meetings; responsible for personnel records; and maintaining confidentiality. These are a few of her qualifications for the position of chapter secretary.  She has been a member of the IAAP Cape Cod Chapter since November 06 and achieved her CAP in May of 07. She is a life long resident of Cape Cod and has a home in Mashpee with her husband of 27 years.   

Lea Peterson CAP, Treasurer is employed as a Supervisory Administrative Assistant at the Barnstable Middle School.  She has worked for the school system for over twenty years.  She joined the IAAP in April of 2004 and has served as its secretary.  She attained her CAP rating in November 2006.
 

Lillian Lomba, Past President 2002-2005 is employed with the Town of Falmouth as Special Education Secretary at the East Falmouth Elementary School. She has been a member of IAAP since July 1998 and has been a member of the Cape Cod Chapter since its formation in September 2000. She has served as an officer in the chapter since its inception as Corresponding Secretary, Vice President and President.

Peggy Rose CAP, Past President 2000-2002 is employed as Executive Assistant to the Acting Director for Research at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. She is not only the past president but the chapter’s first president. She has been a member of IAAP since January 1996 and is the person responsible for organizing a chapter on Cape Cod in 2000. She attained her CAP rating in November 2005.

 

Cape Cod Chapter Committee Members


These committees are essential to the smooth operation of the Chapter. By taking an active role in any of these committees, you expose yourself to a whole new world of networking, leadership, and best of all, friendships.

 

Auditing Committee is responsible for conducting an annual audit of the chapter’s transactions.

Bylaws & Standing Rules Committee organizes and prepares suggested amendments for membership vote and reviews bylaws & standing rules each year.

Certification Committee-promotes certification in the chapter and community, advises members who are interested in attaining Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) or Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) ratings, organizes a study group and proctors exam at Hyannis exam site.

Finance/Fundraising Committee is responsible for establishing ideas and activities to raise funds for the benefit of the chapter.

Members:

Membership Committee is responsible for recruiting and retaining membership, planning the chapter’s open house and maintaining the membership directory.

Newsletter Editor is responsible for creating and writing newsletter.

Nominating/Election Committee is responsible for soliciting nominations from the membership and conducting the chapter’s annual election.

Program Committee is responsible for identifying topics of interest for chapter meetings/events and balances the needs of all members to meet educational expectations.

Scholarship Committee –The committee was formed in 2006 and awarded its first scholarship awards in May 2007.  The committee meets regularly and is currently in the process of reviewing application forms and criteria.  The committee has also developed a set of policy guidelines for use in the scholarship process.
